US acquirers are currently faced with a set of challenges few could have predicted just 10-15 years ago. On the one hand there’s the massive undertaking that is EMV migration. Then there’s the move amongst the merchant community towards omni-channel commerce, mPOS and mobile payments, fuelled by innovative new technologies and heightened consumer expectations around the shopping experience. And all this in the context of a payments industry where the acquirer must add value, or else find itself being replaced.
That’s the message Miura Systems will be taking to the Western States Acquirers Association (WSSA) Annual Conference today and tomorrow. We’ll be showing off our flagship POSzle and M010 hardware – the surest way to give merchants keen to embrace the payments revolution exactly what they want.
Users first
These certainly are challenging times for US acquirers. It’s no easy task meeting the varied demands of a merchant community keen to drive sales and raise the shopping experience up to the level their customers now expect. Mobile POS is at the forefront of this new wave of innovation, offering businesses the opportunity to cut queues at the counter, and take the payment experience right to the customer – empowering staff and making for an altogether more personal shopping experience. The result is a win-win: happier shoppers and bigger profits. It’s no surprise that analyst Juniper Research notes mPOS terminals and technology will account for 40% of retail sales by 2021.
Smartphone payment ecosystems like Apple Pay and Android Pay are also threatening to disrupt the industry with their user-friendly tap-and-pay functionality and secure tokenisation systems. They might have been slow to take off initially but mass adoption is finally starting to happen.
Showing off
Acquirers need to embrace these technologies if they want to offer their merchant customers true value-add. That’s why we’ll be showing off two of our latest offerings WSSA show this week with our two tier distribution partner POSDATA Group in stand #38.
- POSzle is a modular tablet POS hardware bundle, with integrated payment which is already making waves in Europe. It offers integration with leading apps and hardware peripherals, providing a solution which is scalable, agile, and future proof. It’s perfect for smaller merchants who want all the POS look-and-feel and functionality previously reserved for their big-spending counterparts
- M010 is our industry-leading chip and PIN reader for mobile, countertop and in-store payments. The MSR, EMV, and NFC-ready Bluetooth-enabled device also accepts Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay for the latest in contactless payments. And it works seamlessly with the POSzle. Use it in store or take it on the road to mobile pop-up events
Conferences like the WSSA show offer a great opportunity for acquirers to network with peers, learn from industry leaders and find new and innovative payments technologies to help drive their business forward. Drop by our stand #38 if you’re coming to the show. We only hope we’re not upstaged by keynote speaker and Catch Me If You Can author Frank Abagnale. We’ll certainly be easier to find.
