Miura & Creditcall Solve EMV Puzzle in US

The latest EMVCo numbers (reflecting transactions up to June 2016) tell a compelling story about how far the United States still needs to go before EMV adoption is widespread. The report data shows that, at 8 months beyond the EMV liability shift, only 7.2% of card-present transactions used EMV cards and certified terminals. While we can expect the next round of numbers to show an increase, all indications are that there is still a lot of work to be done.

One of the biggest hang-ups has been in the certification process, where many projects have been waiting 6 months or longer. It’s the retailers themselves who are paying for the confusion, lack of clarity, and certification delays plaguing the US market.

Fortunately, not all retailers are suffering. A partnership between UK-based Creditcall and secure electronic payment hardware provider Miura Systems has yielded a portfolio of certified payment terminals ready for the US retail market. Both companies leveraged their EMV experience gained abroad to help navigate the complexities of EMV in the US. While other US-based payment companies have looked to develop their EMV strategies internally (and are paying for it), Creditcall and Miura Systems already have solutions in place.

Miura leverages Creditcall’s ChipDNA, a complete EMV migration solution which includes a comprehensive terminal management system (TMS), remote key injection (RKI) and point to point encryption (P2PE) for the highest level of card holder data protection. Thanks to Creditcall’s ChipDNA, Miura M007 and M010 Chip and PIN card readers are just a couple devices that are now certified on Chase, Elavon, First Data, Global Payments, Heartland, TSYS, and Worldpay.

ChipDNA is an omni-channel, EMV-ready payment gateway solution for mobile, online, in-store and self-service card payment acceptance. It is aimed at web and app developers and can be integrated into Android and iOS based mobile POS (mPOS) payment solutions as well as Windows and Linux semi-integrated environments. ChipDNA brings EMV chip card acceptance to tablets, smartphones and traditional PIN pads as well as eCommerce and mCommerce transactions.

Miura’s M010 and M007 readers use Bluetooth connectivity to enable them to work with a smartphone, tablet and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. The M010 device is compatible with a range of peripherals including cash drawers, receipt printers, bar code readers, cradles and wrap-around. The devices can operate in a fixed (USB connected) environment or a mobile mode while paired to a mobile device or a custom tablet wrap-around.

This partnership between Creditcall and Miura Systems will be on display at Retail’s Big Show, the NRF convention held from Jan. 15-17 at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Smart retailers will make booth #918 their first stop. After addressing EMV transactions once and for all with Creditcall and Miura Systems, they can then spend the rest of their valuable time on the show floor identifying the technologies and solutions that can help them better engage with customers, improve sales, and remain competitive.
