The British are Coming: Taking Miura to Retail’s BIG Show

At Miura Systems it’s a constant challenge to keep accelerating at the rate we’ve been going over the past few years. How do we top 2015, for example? Last year saw us placed in the top five of the inaugural Sunday Times BT Business SME Export Track 100 as having one of the fastest-growing overseas sales of any UK SME. Well, the answer is lots of hard work. This year we’ll be aiming to rack up those air miles visiting major industry events around the world – both to meet partners and getting the Miura message out to those who might not know us so well.

So where better a place to start than in New York next week at the National Retail Federation’s Annual Convention & EXPO? It’ll give us another great opportunity to find out more about the key challenges facing US retailers, and of course to tell them more about how Miura Systems can help them meet the challenge of EMV in a highly cost-effective and flexible way.

Retail’s biggest show

Founded in 1911, the Washington-headquartered National Retail Federation (NRF) is the world’s largest retail trade association, so it’s no surprise that its annual convention has become known of late as Retail’s BIG Show. With 33,000 registrants attending last year and more expected in 2016, it’s not just big in name. In fact, the event itself has been going for over 100 years, and is still the place to go to hear from some of the biggest names, and personalities, in the industry.

This year will be no different, with keynote speakers hailing from just about every major US retailer, including Barnes and Noble, Macy’s and Bloomingdales, and The Home Depot. From international brands like Lacoste and Levi’s to global technology giants including Microsoft, SAP, Google and Salesforce, and major credit card players like AmEx and MasterCard  – everyone will be trying to put their stamp on the show.

The convention will also be a great place to do some crystal ball gazing and find out what’s really going on in US retail at the moment, with presentations from analysts, academics and consultants. But as we found out last year, it’s also about networking, with every bit of downtime filled with opportunities to meet partners, prospects and influencers.

Crossing the Pond

Recent regulatory changes in the US mean the nation’s retailers and PSPs are finally able to push forward with EMV adoption, which puts Miura Systems in a great position. To help us capitalise on the growing demand for chip and PIN card machines, we recently signed a deal with leading US distributor POS Portal. By holding stock at its US facilities, the firm will be able to put our game-changing range of award-winning POS and mPOS card machines and peripherals into the hands of end-customers as quickly as possible.

We think our extensive range of stylish, secure and highly reliable machines has something to suit any business, anywhere – from micro-merchants all the way up to major high street brands. And we’re planning even more industry partnerships, outreach and product news in 2016 to maintain the growth that has got us this far. It’ll all culminate in our exhibiting for the first time at Retail’s BIG Show next year.

In the meantime, if there’s any way you think Miura Systems can add value for your business, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
